The Terminal Tower

Went here a million times as a kid, but never saw it until I looked at it through my camera lens. From before we were the mistake on the lake. Before all buildings were efficient rectangles with drop-ceilings. From when train stations were literal works of art.

From above

Lying on your back in the middle of a crowded mall so you can take a picture of a window = not at all awkward

You might recognize this from the first Avengers - the scene where Loki orders the crowd in Germany to its knees

Theatrics

A couple of weeks back, the awesome folks at Northeast Shores let me visit the historic LaSalle Theater in the Collinwood, a neighborhood in Cleveland. The "This Place Matters" sign pictured at the top of my other blog is from the LaSalle, which is less than a mile from where I grew up. This is the first of several posts from this trip.

Newly restored marquee

When I was a kid, the whole place was painted the pink you see in the top right.
The previous owners did the white paint.
The gold peeking through is the original.

This neo-classical decor was found when developers removed the pink and red curtains that had been hanging there for decades.
